Barbara J. Soule is writer of poetry,short stories and one woman performance pieces. She won the 2008 Radical Woman Award from Raw – Radical Arts for Women for outstanding service to the GLBT community. Ms. Soule is a Reiki Master. In the past, Barbara has been a co-director for the Alaska Women’s Coffeehouse, promoting woman in the performance arts, co-produced the annual Gay Pride Picnic, co-facilitated the only Transgender Support Group that met weekly in the fifty United States. She has been on the board of directors for the Alaska Women’s Resource Center, Identity, Inc., The 15%, Inc. (presently RAW). Ms. Soule is a volunteer for the Gay and Lesbian Helpline, an information and referral phone resource, the GLBT Community Center, and The Alaska Worker’s Association (AWA).
In the fall of 2010, Ms. Soule received a Bachelor of Applied Science in business, graduating with honors. Barbara is the mother of four children. She also raised six foster children. she considers herself as one of the most left-leaning, bleeding-heart Democrates on the planet and pretty much despices radical, right-wing Republicans. Barbara worked for over twenty years as a social worker with mentally and physically disabled people and in residential alcohol and drug treatment centers. She does not smoke, drink alcohol or take any drugs.
